This semi-aquatic carnivore is one of the most endangered turtles in the world.

It was highly desired in the pet industry and has a very limited range. Today only 2 or 3 populations of a few hundred remain in the wild. When hiding from predators or stalking prey, its neck can be folded against its body. When capturing prey, the turtle’s neck and head lunge forward as its mouth and throat open to create a vacuum.
