TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 1, 2019) – Whether you are a strolling tortoise or a racing hare, there is a pace for you this Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Ascension St. John ZooRun presented by CommunityCare. Tulsa’s family-friendly race features a 5k and 10k, plus the Ascension St. John 1-mile Fun Run.
For the safety of the runners, the gates to Mohawk Park will close at 8:20 a.m. on race day and will re-open to the general public at 10 a.m.
In its 50th year, the race is the state’s second-oldest running event and the sixth-largest race in Oklahoma. Proceeds from the event will benefit Phase 2 of the zoo’s Building Beyond capital campaign, re-building the zoo for the benefit of our animals, staff, and zoo visitors.
The Tulsa Zoo is partnering with the City of Tulsa through Tulsa Water Works to bring 650 gallons of chilled water to Ascension St. John ZooRun presented by CommunityCare. All runners are encouraged to bring a re-useable water bottle. To help reduce one-time-use plastic waste, only paper cups will be available, helping lower the amount of plastics in our environment.
It is not too late to register. Stop by the Tulsa Zoo or go online to tulsazoo.org/run to join the pack.
