TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 2, 2018) – Whether you are a strolling tortoise or a racing hare, there is a pace for you this Saturday, Oct. 6, at the St. John ZooRun. Tulsa’s family friendly race features a 5k and 10k, plus the St. John 1-mile Fun Run.
In its 49th year, the St. John ZooRun is the state’s second-oldest running event and the sixth-largest race in Oklahoma. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Building Beyond Your Wildest Dreams capital campaign, re-building the zoo for the benefit of our animals, staff and zoo visitors.
Continuing the race to make the world a better place, the Tulsa Zoo is partnering with the City of Tulsa through Tulsa Water Works to bring 650 gallons of chilled water to St. John ZooRun. All runners are encouraged to bring a re-useable water bottle. To help reduce one-time use plastic waste, only paper cups will be available, helping lower the amount of plastics in our environment.
It is not too late to register. Stop by the Tulsa Zoo or go online to tulsazoo.org/run to join the pack.
For the safety of the runners, the gates to Mohawk Park will close at 8:20 a.m. on race day and will re-open to the general public at 10 a.m.
The annual run event would not be possible without generous sponsors, including Title Sponsor: St. John Health System a part of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and nonprofit health system; Packet Pick-Up Sponsor: New Balance Tulsa; Individual Sponsors: Linda Brown – Real Estate and Robert E. Patterson; Water Stop Sponsor: Admiral Express.
