Tulsa Zoo celebrates 55 years of family run fun with Oklahoma Central Credit Union ZooRun Presented by CommunityCare, scheduled for Saturday, April 12. The event will include a 5k, 10k and the MedWise1-mile Fun Run.

 

Oklahoma Central Credit Union ZooRun Presented by CommunityCare is Tulsa’s second-oldest race. Proceeds from the event will benefit the new Clayton and Gina Hughes Family Giant Anteater Habitat. This new exhibit is scheduled to break ground in early 2025 and be completed in time for a fall ribbon cutting.

 

“This year we updated the racecourse, allowing our distance runners to experience more of the zoo,” said Tulsa Zoo Special Events Manager and Race Director Kim Young. “The new course will take runners along some of our behind-the-scenes pathways near the vet hospital and enter the zoo running by the playground, Zoorassic World, Children’s Zoo and ending at Eagles. After the races have concluded, runners and spectators will be able to enjoy the zoo at their leisure.”

 

Entry fees are $30 for the MedWise 1-Mile Fun Run, $40 for the 5k and $50 for the 10k. Fee includes a race bib, finisher medal, access to the COUNTRY Financial Finisher Zone and free entry into the zoo afterward.

 

For safety purposes, the gates to Mohawk Park will close at 8:20 a.m. on race day and will reopen to the general public when the last runners have cleared Mohawk Park. It is estimated Mohawk Park will reopen at 10 a.m.

 

For each group of five or more that signs up through a school, Tulsa Zoo will donate $1 per runner back to the participant’s school. The top three schools with the most registered runners will also receive additional prize money.
