TULSA, Okla. (Sept. 20, 2017) – Visit the Tulsa Zoo from now to the end of September and have $1 of your paid admission donated to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums hurricane relief fund.
From September 18 through 30, the Tulsa Zoo is pledging to donate $1 from every paid ticket — up to $10,000 — toward helping other accredited Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) institutions and their employees.
“We are dedicated to helping accredited zoos and aquariums, and their affected employees, touched by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida,” said Tulsa Zoo President and CEO Terrie Correll. “We stand ready to rebuild not only facilities, but most importantly, lives of those impacted by the disaster.”
While the damage to the facilities ranges in severity, many AZA zoo and aquarium employees have been impacted by the catastrophic events and require assistance. AZA has set up the fund to help members’ staff and their families rebuild.
“Every paid Tulsa Zoo visitor is contributing to relief efforts for families impacted by the catastrophic event,” said Correll.
