Tulsa Zoo Helps Wild Scarlet Macaw Populations

We have a  new partnership with The Wildlife Conservation Society to support The Scarlet Macaw Population Recovery Program, which works to restore parrot populations across Latin America. The goal of this program is stop macaw poaching, while protecting macaw  habitats from deforestation and other threats. The Tulsa Zoo will directly support this project by providing new flight cages, laboratory equipment, and other essential items.

It is estimated that only 250 scarlet macaws remain in the wild in the Maya Biosphere Reserve of Guatemala.
