The 51st annual Ascension St. John ZooRun presented by CommunityCare is THE family-friendly race in Tulsa. With both a 5k and 10k, plus the Ascension St. John 1-mile Fun Run, there is a race and pace for everyone.
Ascension St. John ZooRun presented by CommunityCare is the second-oldest running event in Tulsa and one of the Tulsa Zoo’s premier annual fundraising events.
The 5k and 10k races are certified by USA Track & Field. The 5k and 10k races begin in Mohawk Park and finish inside the Tulsa Zoo near the Helmerich Playground: Behaving Like Animals. The Ascension St. John Fun Run takes place entirely on zoo grounds. Race maps coming soon.
Our 5k and 10k races will be timed with electronic timing chips. The timing device is attached to the back of your race bib. Please wear your race bib number on the front of your shirt.

You MUST be inside the Mohawk Park gates and parked by 8:20 am. The gates close at this time for the safety of the runners. No exceptions and no refunds will be given due to late arrival. Gates will re-open at 10:00 am.
To avoid race day congestion, you can access the main zoo parking lot by using the alternate zoo entrance. You will turn on North Winston Avenue which is just west of Yale Avenue off East 36th Street North. Winston Avenue merges with Mohawk Boulevard. Follow Mohawk Boulevard around the golf course directly into the zoo parking lot. Sheridan experiences the most traffic; East 36th Street North also can be accessed via Harvard and Yale avenues.
If you need to leave before the main gates to Mohawk Park re-open, please utilize the alternate entrance route and park at the west end of the zoo parking lot. Once the races have started, you will be able to exit out this way. The Tulsa Police Department Special Events team will direct you.

Yes! Strollers are allowed in our 5k and 1-mile Ascension St. John Fun Run ONLY. Please stage yourself at the back of the pack for the safety of the other runners. You will not need to register your child as long as they stay in the stroller for the duration of the race.
The 5k and 10k run will be timed using electronic timing. All runners and walkers in these races will need to wear a timing device to receive a time and finish result. Your bib tag will already be attached to your race bib number. Please attach your race bib number to the FRONT of your shirt. Bib tags are for one-time use only.
No. Starting lines for all races are near the front entrance of the Tulsa Zoo. The 5k and 10k races end near the Helmerich Playground: Behaving Like Animals. The Ascension St. John Fun Run finish line ends at the penguin exhibit.
Yes, but please note that the Ascension St. John Fun Run finish line and the 5k start line are on opposite sides of the zoo. No refunds will be given if you are late to the 5k start line.
There will not be a scheduled rain date. In case of rain or severe weather, no refunds will be given and all registration and sponsor fees will be considered a tax-deductible donation.
The gates close at 8:20 a.m. on race day for the safety of the runners. The 5k begins at 8:30 a.m. in Mohawk Park, so all cars need to be parked at this time. No exceptions and no refunds will be given due to late arrival. Gates will re-open at 10 a.m. If you need to leave the parking lot before the main gates to Mohawk Park re-open, please utilize the alternate entrance route and park at the west end of the main zoo parking lot. Once the races have started, you will be able to exit this way.
***Please allow at least 20 extra minutes to your normal drive for race day traffic.
YES! Until 10 a.m., families can enter the zoo for free to cheer on runners at the finish line!
