Crotalus adamanteus

It is often found near gopher tortoise burrows where it shelters during extreme summer heat and winter cold. All rattlesnakes, including this species, are ovoviviparous or “live-bearing” with young born in a thin, membrane-like sac. They can give birth to up to 21 young at a time.
