Join us Fridays this June as we celebrate Susie’s 50th birthday! Chimp Island will be covered with special enrichment for the entire troop.
Susie our resident grandmother chimpanzee has resided at the Tulsa Zoo longer than any other mammal. In her lifetime, she has raised five offspring, the most of any female chimpanzee at our zoo. Susie’s offspring are Penny (1978), Chester (1982), Morris (1986), and Hope (1991), and after a 16-year hiatus on breeding in our troop Bernsen (2007).
