King’s Skink

Egernia kingii

Like many lizards, king’s skinks can lose or drop their tail when threatened. What’s really interesting is that with this species, when regeneration occurs, the skink maintains most of the original dexterity and mobility of the tail which is odd for species with regeneration capabilities.
