Grand Cayman Iguana

It is often called a blue iguana since a male’s skin turns azure blue during the breeding season.

This herbivore lives only on the island of Grand Cayman.  With fewer than 500 individuals left in the wild, this species is the focus of a Tulsa Zoo breeding program to reintroduce captive-bred young into the wild population.
