TULSA, Okla. (Sept. 3, 2020) – Tulsa Zoo will welcome guests from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Tuesday, Sept. 8. All guests, including members, are required to reserve advance tickets online at tulsazoo.org/tickets, with 2-2:59 p.m. being the final guest entry timeslot.
“To allow guests to beat the heat, we have been opening the zoo at 8 a.m. since May,” says Patrick Weisz, director of guest services. “Heat consistently is our guests’ primary concern during summer visits so we look for ways to help based on weather trends. This year, opening early made the most sense. We know our guests appreciate the option to come early, and we will look at offering the same next year.”
“As the weather cools, we are not seeing the same early morning demand. We are excited for guests to visit the zoo this fall and winter starting at 9 a.m.,” he says.
After Labor Day the main gate will, again, be the entry and exit. Zoo guests will leave through the Gift Shop Exit instead of the West Gate.
“Based on three months of operating with safeguards, we have a better understanding of traffic flow around the zoo,” says Weisz. “This change will allow for social distancing and improve the guest experience with one entry and exit point.”
“We are getting overwhelmingly positive feedback from guests about the changes we’ve made. We appreciate our community’s flexibility and understanding, as we continue to make changes to keep everyone within our gates healthy and safe.”
Buildings and attractions will continue to close at 4:30 p.m. to allow time for guests to exit zoo grounds by 5 p.m.
